Discovering water management in maritime Flanders
Easy circuits
Located in maritime Flanders, covering approximately 100,000 hectares, the territory of Wateringues corresponds to the former Aa delta, part of the Saint-Omer – Calais – Dunkirk triangle. This is a reclaimed territory, that is to say reclaimed from the sea. Coastal structures, natural or artificial, provide protection against marine invasions. The evacuation of continental waters is ensured by a particular and complex drainage system.
Six routes of 3 to 7 km, from Socx to Dunkirk via Bergues and the Bois des Forts have been developed. Following the route of existing routes, each loop is punctuated by interpretation panels, thematic panels and also QR code terminals which provide access to videos, interviews and digital content.
